Henna painting for all occasions

"Be cool with temporary, safe, painless tattoos!"

Do you want a tattoo but wish it wasn’t so permanent? Would you get one of those cool designs if it wasn’t so painful? Perhaps you should consider henna art.

Henna artist Deepika Bhatt has been drawing in henna since she was seven years old. Born and raised in India, Deepika eventually went on to apprentice with three henna artists, and although she has her Ph.D. in genetics, her passion is henna painting.

Henna is a paste derived from the "henna plant" which grows in desert regions. Deepika uses only all natural henna from a source in India. No chemicals are involved, she stresses. A product on the market called "black henna," which is not natural henna but actually henna with a dye added, has been known to cause allergic reactions."Red henna is good henna," Deepika adds. Once the design is drawn, the paste will dry and flake off, leaving an orange stain that continues to darken over 24-48 hours, turning from red to mahogany, depending on one’s skin type. The "temporarily permanent" tattoo will last one to three weeks.

Deepika returns to India every few years to learn what’s new and hot in henna. She treats it with the same respect as research. What could be new in a craft that’s been around for ages, you ask? "Sparkle henna" involving crystals and glitter is very popular these days. "Indian brides love it!"

Deepika paints at weddings, festivals, parties, corporate events showers, you name it. She also offers appointments in the home. Many of Deepika’s designs stem from nature because she believes in "looking for beauty." I think you’ll agree she¹s found it.
