The North American Guild of Beer Writers exists to encourage writing that is informed, accurate and fair-minded on the subject of beer, brewing, beer styles, history, education, travel, cooking with beer, and beer appreciation, in all forms of media (print, online, radio/TV, public relations materials, etc).
Members are asked to follow professional standards of journalism, such as fact-checking before making editorial comments; to give clear attribution and bibliographical detail where appropriate; to declare any business or consulting relationships with brewers thereby avoiding conflicts of interest; and to make it clear if a story derives from a press trip.
Excellence in beer journalism is recognized through the Quill and Tankard Awards, given each year at the Great American Beer Festival® in Denver, where our general meeting is held. The competition entry forms are mailed in June.
Annual dues are $50, renewed on the anniversary date of your membership. The application form includes space for a brief biographical entry in the directory.
